February 25, 2010.

Hey Guys,

Today:

Ben is welding a place for our control box.

Most of the crew is working on our body work to finish shaping it for the frame.

The process is very messy, it makes the entire room smell like apples.
And i have no idea why but i think its the burning epoxy.
And not the apple fruity smell but the apple pie/apple cider kind of apple smell.

Sean is spying!!!
on people...

Okay that is all for today thanks for putting up with our delay!

-Sean and Kaylene

hey guys,

sorry for the delay on the posts but we have been working really hard on our car.
we have also been working on our Donation sheet for our races to raise money for a good cause other than our school. give u your ideas and we will put them into great consideration!

i will update you on what is done when i get into my actual PD class

Hey Kaylene here,
Sean sitting in the chair...
and SiYon sitting behind me and
Thomas also.... OH and Grrrrg.
(yes that is his name...)
and Logan is in here for the day! GO LOGAN!!
(The person, not the school)

Today:

Ben and Kelen are working on mounting the engine.
Nekuda is working on steering.
Craig is working on the body, getting everything smooth.
Logan is building some of the parts we need for the steering and ackerman part of the car.

That is what is happening for today.
Not much, most of us are a little slow for these past few days from getting back to work after not working for at least five days.
We had a long weekend.

That is all folks!
Sean and Kaylene
also the other people say hi too

February 16, 2010

Kaylene here!

We just got back from a long weekend & here's whats going on around the shop:
We came back and tried to move our car to a different location and the tire rod broke... it might be just from a bad welding job. (The other class accidentally switched ours with their tire rod.) I keep asking what we're doing and all Sean is replying is "that's what she said."

Nekuda and Sean are working on the steering. They need certain parts to finish the mock-up steering in the spare car.

Thomas came up with formats of new plans. GO THOMAS!!

Kelen is working on something that i can't see from the computer desk...
(that would be the frame)(it is in the other room)
He is also working with Ben.

That is basically all for today ,so hope you are satisfied!!

Love ya'll
Kay :)
Sean (once again had to correct this post for errors)

February 4, 2010

Hello again World,

It's time for the update on the Powerdrive Team and Bellevue East.

We have been working through the weather though

some of our team mates are our sick for illnesses unknown.

But we are still working through this weather.

We are getting more snow today.

It doesn't really affect our work in the shop but it does affect how we
can

or cannot get to the shop and some of the supplies we need.

The shop smells bad today. The epoxy we lay on our car smells
bad really close.

But we use it anyway.

And it works.

That's pretty much all for today.

School group photos were today.

Because of this the entire day has been hectic.

Sincerely,

-Sean

-Kay

February 3, 2010

Well Hello Folks,

Today is a rather slow day again here in the shop,
Kelen is sanding down the FRP,
Mr. J and Nekuda are cutting out our brakes from a solid piece of metal (using the plasma cutter),
We (Kaylene & Sean) are blogging so our follower(s)(<-- hopefully more will follow!)
know what it takes to make a great racing vehicle! (battery powered of course)

Here is SiYon to tell you about what makes a great team here in the shop...

"hugs"

(Hugs don't make a great team. Hardwork, determination, and perseverance makes a great team. -Sean)

Well that was kinda weird...

Some of our teams members are out today due to various reasons. This would be the main reason of the slow day.

We can't get much done without the people here to do the work.

But yea... We will update you on more around here when we have a faster, more productive day:).

Your PD students:
Kay:) & Sean
Also, some help from SiYon

February 1, 2010

IT'S FINALLY FEBRUARY.

Okay, today involves:

sanding (Kelen & Gage)

welding(Nate, Thomas, & Ben)

designing(Sean)

building(Greg)

grinding(Kyle)

Spying(The rest who are not listed)

Blogging(Sean, Kay, & SiYon)

There seems to be a reoccuring theme with Kyle and some sort of grinding or sanding?

I think so!

Kelen is sanding the car body, again.

Nate & Thomas are welding random items that Greg builds,

(they're practicing to get better at welding)

Sean is designing the frame,

Greg is building things for Nate & Thomas to weld,

Ben is welding the roll cage,

Sean, Kay, and SiYon are working on the blog,

(Kay is typing, Sean is correcting Kay every five seconds for some typing or grammatical error, and SiYon is offering input)(thank whomever invented spell check -haha very funny-kay)

Everyone else is just spying on the others to see if they have some other input on whatever they think needs or could be changed.

We are using FRP for the body. It is used for making showers. It is like a plasicy, fiberglass material. We chose this because it is flexible enough for our needs. We were originaly going to use fiberglass, instead we chose FRP because its expensive to make and we are on a tight budget. Fiber glass by itself is a pain in the rectum... (Sean chose that vocabulary word for today! instead of one that was much less appropriate)

Yours Tiredly,

-Sean & Kay-

January 28, 2010

Hello World,
Kyle finally finished the helmet and it looks like it did when he started...
Except its got a more of a pink color. lol!

Today Kyle and Kelen are sanding down the body.

Kyle on the left and Kelen on the right.

Ben and Sean are finishing the roll cage.

Then comes the fun part: we get to put our work to the test!
We get to roll Sean over and see if the roll cage meets the specifications of a racing car.

WE MIGHT GET TO ROLL HIM DOWN THE BIG HILL!!!!!!

Now if you have ever been to East, in the back there is a giant hill that everyone, EVERYONE, sleds down when the first snow comes down from the sky. It's really, really, really, really, really big.

This is the BIG HILL.
I'M SO EXCITED!! -Kay

(I'm not so much excited, though I trust our work. -Sean)

I will update you on how that went tomorrow because we got started a little late today, because some people were late to class, not going to say any names *cough cough* Thomas & Nate *cough cough* but yeah.

Hope you enjoyed today's post

Your excited student,
-Kaylene :)
And one scared pantless student,
-Sean :)

January 27, 2010

Hello World,

It's time for an update on the First Year Powerdrive team at Bellevue East Senoir High School.

Today involves the work of Kyle in his attempt to make one of our helmets more presentable (getting rid of the numerous scratches from getting dropped on the floor from the shelf that holds it)

Also for today is Ben, Sean, and Kelen's work on the rollcage to finishing construction of the front half of the body/frame work of the car.

And Kyle is still sanding away at the helmet.

This is Sean in our test helmet. He was getting fitted for the car because our main driver was out and they are roughly the same size. This was before he got in the car to test the size of the roll cage.

More work is being done on the car body to make it work into the principles of aerodynamics, friction, and to make it just look totally awesome.

And Kyle is still sanding away.

The car has come along way from once being an idea to being the half constructed skeleton it is now.

Obviously a lot more has to be done to make it race worthy.

Our plans for many of the various parts of the car are in their final stages.
These involve the steering, electrical, gear ratios, rear development, and other parts.

Another coat of fiberglass is being added to the body mold to make it stronger. There are likely more coats to follow.

And Kyle is still sanding away.

Well that is all for today.
-Sean and Kay!

January 26, 2010

Hey guys,
Its January 26,2010 and we are now measuring to see if everything fits right, like proportion wise. We have had a blast working here in the shop. We hope you are having fun reading about what we are doing around here and inspire you to do the same at your school if its able to be taken!

I am hoping to get pics of Sean getting fitted into the car with a smelly helmet from years past.......EEEWWWW!!!!!!! That thing smells like ball sweat!! (Most of our drivers are guys -Sean) Yeah but some (im not sayin all) are pretty cute! -Kaylene (just as a girl im sayin' that

January 25, 2010

In order of pics:
This is Craig's groups half scale model. "it seemed right at the time." -Craig

This is Andrew's groups model. it was designed it after Evan's(the older design) and Ben modified it to fit all the work on how we wanted to. -Andrew

This is Sean's groups half-scale "tank" model. It was very very sturdy but very heavy aswell. Its an overall good design. It only weighs too much to be a competition racer. -Sean

Alright well that was my assignment for today. I hoped you enjoyed the pics from today.
sorry for the delay again.
-Kaylene :)
(and Sean.)

January 22, 2010

Hey guys,

Sorry for the delay on the updates, we have been having a couple of technical difficulties here in the shop, mostly of the computer variety. We have done a lot since the beginning of the year, everything from scale models to welding to vehicle body design.

Our crew consists of 15 separate individuals, who each do their own part in the building and design process. Names stretching from Andrew to Kelen to Siyon.

We will update you on more around here when we have more time in class and we get used to this computer glitch thingie. That is all for today folks!

Sincerely your PD students :)
-Sean and Kay!
